Well once again you find me at work. I’m thinking that sitting here at the desk with the TV playing in the background is the best time to write; sort all those thoughts out about the past, present, and future. Although thinking about it now, a close second is when I’ve woken up at noon or later on an off day, poured a cup of coffee and use my dual monitors; one to watch TweetDeck and the other to write.
Those musings aside, it’s been a good morning here. I wont use the “Q†word yet, it’s still early, but we’ve had one decent cardiac run and I’ve been getting some overdue work done. Now though I find myself in the inevitable countdown to the end of shift; as of this paragraph it is 1200 EST which means its 15 hrs until the end of shift. The difference with today is that it is the last shift I work before I hop on a plane and fly out to Las Vegas for EMS Expo 2011. Excitement does not describe how I feel, in fact, words cannot illustrate the palpable thrill of working with some of the most creative, intelligent, and forward minded individuals that I’ve had the privilege of knowing. I’ve added a video from YouTube, thanks to Heineken and The Asteroids Galaxy Tour (a band that is very much worth checking out). This commercial epitomizes what it’s like for me to be at a conference. Feeling totally in your element, able to collaborate in a meaningful and permanent way.
EMS Expo 2011 offers many opportunities for continuing education, product development and potential changes for EMS systems worldwide, but what I think I’ll gain most from this trip is a renewed love for my job. It’s this kind of experience that reminds me why I got into this field in the first place. My day to day might not be all it’s cracked up to be, but visiting and working with the people who are motivated to make EMS a better profession day in and day out is inspiring.
I don’t have much to write about today, work is making me sluggish. I think I’ll leave you here today with this.
If you’re passionate about something, give it your all. This video will help explain what I mean.
